MAXN’s second full-length album, “Mirror In A Gold Mine,” is a soulful journey that delves into the experiences of finding identity, the passage of time, and personal growth amidst navigating the pandemic while living in Los Angeles. Bursting with influences from classic soul artists like Marvin Gaye and The Isley Brothers, MAXN brings us a fresh sound that blends modern and retro production styles.

Throughout the album we can hear rhythmic acoustic guitars, crispy drums, and MAXN’s unique and funky keyboard work accompanying the thoughtful lyrics and melodies that he has penned, The ten-song album reflects many of MAXN’s own experiences. He says, “many of the songs are centered around places relating to different physical and emotional environments I have found myself in."

The title track, “Mirror In A Gold Mine,” provides a perspective on the frustrating social isolation that can be felt in a big city like Los Angeles. “Woodsong” is an ode to appreciating our natural surroundings amidst the busy and often distracted lives we live today. “Early Morning” is a glimpse into confronting the past when sleep does not come easily, and “Bathroom Stall,” is a fun anthem about social anxiety.
